Railway line Osijek - Beli Manastir is one of the oldest in Croatia, built in 1870. by MAV (Hungarian State Railways) as a connection between Pécs and Osijek via Villány and Beli Manastir through the regions of Baranja (Croatia) and Baranya (Hungary). Today, the Croatian Railways line is formally designated as M301 (DG - Beli Manastir - Osijek), part of the Croatian RH3 corridor (corresponding to former Pan-European Corridor 5c) with a station of Beli Manastir acting as border stations between Croatia and Hungary. It is a standard-gauge, single-track non-electrified line with a length of 32,505 meters stretching through Baranja in a north-south direction, before crossing the River Drava bridge in Osijek and turning east to Osijek railway station. The line is an important cargo connection towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and the port of Ploče in south Croatia (via RH3/Vc corridor) but it also has local passenger traffic with 20 daily services, some of which are linked to local trains that continue towards Pécs in Hungary.

The original wooden bridge over river Drava in Osijek collapsed less than 12 years after its opening (in September 1882) when the bridge collapsed under the weight of the train, killing 26 soldiers of Huszár light cavalry regiment. The bridge was replaced in 1884. by a metal bridge which was later replaced in 1911, damaged and repaired after World War 2 with the latest bridge major modernization done in 1990. The 1882. accident is marked by a memorial on Osijek Dravski Most station.
