This footage is historical since all Sprague-Thomson trains are now
withdrawn. Even Tourist sightseeing Trains. Shot in the driving cab.
The controler activated by the Engineer's right hand was invented by
Franck Julian Sprague. It allows supplying the electric traction motors
current thru indirect command by relays as opposed to the original
Thomson controler which was dangerously directly controling the 600
Volt High Voltage to the motors. The Brake valve belongs to the classic
westinghouse system. Line number 6 is mainly elevated and offers nice
views of Paris. Crossing modern Blue Trains run on tire equipped
bogies.The inner track allows "normal" trains to run on this line. On
Sprague-Thomson trains there was no speedometer. The actual speed
was "measured " by counting the ties...Original isn't it. On the only
preserved train used for exceptional movies requiring antique trains a
real speedometer has been added for young Engineers who are not
familiar with this old Stock.
