Bubble Tops, Backup Cameras, Radar Steering and Chrome, Chrome, Chrome!
General Motors' Motorama traveled over America's new highways in a caravan of one hundred trucks, some of which carried the show's concept cars -- streamlined Atom-Age autos that seemed designed to run on dreams. In this WTVJ news story one of these futuristic cars comes out of its cargo trucks and into the Florida sunshine.
It's the Buick Centurion, which is set upon right out of the truck by security guards and, oddly enough, a little girl, who peel off the car's protective coating. (Think about this the next time you yank that plastic film off the screen of your new cell phone.)
Then two suspiciously fabulous-looking people hop into the Centurion, with its clear bubble top, fiberglass body and backup camera, and drive into the limitless, carbon-fueled future.
