If Google Chrome is not working on your Android device, it can be due to a number of common issues such as outdated app versions, corrupted cache files, or poor internet connectivity. Thankfully, most of these problems can be fixed with a few quick troubleshooting steps.

Start by checking your internet connection. If you’re connected to Wi-Fi, try switching to mobile data, or if you’re on mobile data, connect to a Wi-Fi network instead. This helps confirm whether the issue is related to your connection or the app itself. You can also open another app or browser to test if your internet connection is stable.

Next, check Chrome’s app settings. Long-press on the Chrome app icon and tap the small “i” (info) icon to open App Info. Once inside, select “Storage and Cache” or “Storage Usage,” depending on your device model. Tap “Clear Cache” first, and if the issue persists, tap “Clear Storage” or “Clear Data.” This removes temporary files that might be causing the app to crash or fail to load properly. Don’t worry—your bookmarks and synced data will be restored when you sign back into Chrome.

After clearing cache and data, open the Google Play Store and search for “Google Chrome.” If an update is available, tap “Update.” Keeping Chrome updated ensures it’s compatible with your Android version and includes the latest bug fixes. If Chrome is already updated and still not working, try restarting your device to reset background processes.

You can also check for Android system updates under Settings - System - Software Update. An outdated OS can sometimes cause compatibility issues with newer app versions.

If none of these steps fix the issue, uninstall Chrome updates by going to App Info - three-dot menu- Uninstall updates. This restores Chrome to its original factory version, which can resolve certain crashes or freezes.
