The MK pride is deploying different tactics to counteract the threat from the Nomads. A group of lionesses break off from the pride and travel north to meet the new males: distraction mating could keep the Nomads away from their territory, their cubs, and the other vulnerable members of the clan. But it’s a dangerous gamble by the females, to come so close to males who’ve already attacked the neighboring pride.
