Story: The NeverEnding Story (1984) is a fantasy film directed by Wolfgang Petersen about a boy, Bastian, who reads a magical book about the world of Fantasia, which is being destroyed by a force called "The Nothing" and needs a human child to save it. The story follows the warrior Atreyu on his quest to save Fantasia, with help from the luck dragon Falkor, and eventually pulls Bastian into the narrative as the hero. The film, based on Michael Ende's novel, was a major production for its time, known for its memorable characters, iconic theme song, and practical effects, and it launched a film series.
