At 4.30am on 19 August 2024, a huge sailing yacht, the Bayesian, sank off the coast of Porticello in Palermo due to bad weather: there were 22 people on board the sailing vessel, of which 15 were rescued (including Commander James Catfield) and 7 lost their lives, including British billionaire Mike Lynch, his daughter Hannah and Jonathan Bloomer, president of Morgan Stanley International. But what exactly happened to this luxury sailboat? What are the possible causes of the shipwreck? And why did it sink so quickly?
