Elder Ephraim of Arizona (or Philotheou) was a spiritual child of Saint Joseph the Hesychast, who recently passed away to the Lord. Elder Ephraim spent 32 years on Mount Athos as a monk, a part of which he served as abbot at the Monastery of Philotheou. In 1979, Elder Ephraim came to America for an operation and through divine inspiration he was told to remain and build 17 Orthodox monasteries. His wisdom and spiritual experience helped thousands of people, both monks and pilgrims, throughout the years, and his words continue to inspire countless Orthodox Christians.
