The Navy has a very fair system of promotions.
There are two schemes through which these Sailors can become Officers- “Commission Worthy Scheme & Special Duties Scheme.”
The second one “Special Duties Scheme” is rare.
About Commission Worthy Scheme
The C W Scheme also known as Commission Worthy Scheme is for all types of sailors.
Eligibility Criteria
For AA- the age under 24 years of age can apply
For SSR & Other sailors- under 22 ½ years of age

Educational Qualification
Minimum educational qualification will be 10+2 with Physics and Maths.
For AA - rank of Artificer 5th class or higher.
A Non-Artificer sailor should have completed his induction training including 3rd Class Specialist qualification should be there

Marital Status
Both married & unmarried can apply, but those who are married will not provide accommodation nor be allowed to live with their families while undergoing training.

Application Procedure- Twice yearly once in April the second in October
The CO is to forward the applications to the Bureau of Sailors so as to reach them by 30th April / 31st October each year the sailor.
By 30th May/ 30th November- Bureau of Sailors send the list to Unit to Face PSB
The list is forwarded to PSB
By 30th June/ 31st, Dec the PSB scrutinizes the Service records/ other documents and checks whether The Sailor has OLQ.
Written
PSB passed candidate can appear in the Online examination at Designated Exam Centres decided by Navy Head Quarters
If a ship is likely to be at sea during this period, candidates borne afloat are disembarked for the written examination, before a sea sortie.
All candidates who have successfully qualified the written examination will be sent for selection by the Services Selection Board

Coimbatore
Vizag
Kolkata
Bangalore 12 SSB

No. of attempts allowed are in Total 3 Attempts

Selected Candidates - All candidates selected under CW scheme will be designated as cadets and will undergo the four year B-Tech course at INA, Ezhimala by 1st Jan.
