Dark Souls III Pontiff Sulyvahn. Well this is probably one of the hardest if not the hardest Boss Fight in Dark Souls 3. You find this Boss close to the church of Yorshka in the Irithyll area.
You can unlock a shortcut by opening the gate right next to the Bonfire.

Pontiff Sulyvahn wields two swords: one imbued with fire, the other imbued with magic. He is fast as shit, very aggressive and can execute multiple attacks before running out of stamina.
I think Pontiff Sulyvahn is the first real challange in Dark Souls 3.

You can summon 3 different phantoms to help you with Pontiff Sulyvahn if you are embered.
A good preparation is the key for this fight. Be sure to use some light armor with high fire and/or magic resist. Another very important thing is the shield. I recommend to use the Shield of Want
or the Crest Shield. Well the best bet would be the Greatshield of Glory or Yhorm's Greatshield but both require a strength of 40... yea i'm dead fcking serious.. 40. If you have your strength skill at 40 use em cause
they pretty much nullify Pontiff Sulyvahns attack otherwise stick to the Crest shield or the Shield of Want.
As for the rings i recommend to use attack buff rings like Lloyd's Sword ring and Pontiff's Right Eye. Make sure to equip the Chloranthy ring aswell to increase your stamina recovery and be sure to wield a fast weapon,
like a sword, dagger or even an axe. This is a hard Boss in Dark Souls 3: Pontiff Sulyvahn
Pontiff Sulyvahn is weak to fire damage so you may use some Charcoal Pine to apply some fire damage to your weapon. This fight requires some stamina management but i promise if you use this strategy Pontiff Sulyvahn
will not be that much of a problem for you guys.
Upon entering the Boss room Pontiff Sulyvahn will slowly walk towards you and always starts with a dash attack. Dodge this attack by rolling straight in his direction. Use the lock on function, raise your shield
and stay as close to him as possible. Strafe around Pontiff Sulyvahn and wait for a window to land one or two hits. Many of the Pontiff's attacks will pass overhead or miss completely
and a stable shield with good fire and magic block, such as the Shield of Want will reduce the damage taken significantly. First phase in a nutshell: Stay close, strafe around Pontiff Sulyvahn and keep your guard up.
With this strategy, his first phase is relatively simple.

The second phase is a bit trickier. If Pontiff Sulyvahn's HP is down to like 50% he begins his transformation. Back up to avoid the explosion which deals a tremandous amount of damage, and then move in for one or two hits.
After that he will almost always attempt to summon his clone... yea you heard it... he freakin clone. You need to take out this clone asap. Use a Charcoal Pine, heal up and attack the doppelgänger as much as you can.
With a plus 7 Sword you should be able to kill the clone while its still in the summon animation. If you cant kill him straight away, lock on the clone and try your best to kill him quick.
Ideally, you will be able to kill the doppelgänger quick and simplify this phase to kill Dark Souls 3 Pontiff Sulyvahn easily.
The only attacks that will severely damage you through the shield are his flaming plunge attacks and his magic attacks like the soul wave. Make sure to dodge em.
Play safe and finish Pontiff Sulyvahn off.
