VIking Cruising The Adriatic : What To Expect

I think the best part about a cruise is that you get to try a little bit of everywhere. This let’s you explore and figure out where you want to go back too!

We did 4 countries in 8 days and it was perfect! We went o Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece with @vikingcruises and it was such a cool way to see this part of the world. We were in a different port everyday and since the boat is smaller than some of the other cruise lines we could dock right in some of the old towns!

Itinerary

2 days Venice, Italy
-walk the old towns, take a gondola and ferry, try the gelato (best I have ever had) see Doges Palace and St Marks Basilica. Don’t be like Pat wear pants to to St Marks, shorts are apparently a no no.

1 day Split, Croatia
-see Diocletians palace and the beautiful old town. Split has some of the best preserved roman ruins in the world. We had already been so we took a rib excursion to Hvar. In Hvar we hiked to the castle lookout, had lunch and went for a swim in crystal blue water.

1 day Dubrovnik, Croatia
-explore Dubrovnik’sincredible old town and iconic city walls. Serious Game of Thrones vibes here as most of Kings Landing was set in town. Plan to spend the whole day wandering, it’s incredible here. If you visit in summer there are some amazing beach bars in the old town

1 day Kotor, Montenegro
-another amazing old town. Kotor is unique in that it was never conquered by the Ottomans so the town has a different vibe. Narrow wandering streets and cats everywhere! There is an amazing hilltop castle with views over the town
that is a must. This is a place I want to come back to and explore.

1 day Corfu, Greece
-Corfu has some amazing shopping and a really cute and colourful old town. They have amazing beaches too!

1 day Olympia, Greece
-the site of the first ever Olympic games. Go for a run on the original track like an old time Olympian.

1 day Athens, Greece
-Athens has countless things to do, we choose the Acropolis and some of the Roman ruins and walking streets. Make sure you go out to eat here as Greek food is fantastic. I was a big fan of the Saganaki, gyros and halva.
