In his insight address, Wikan Sakarinto, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., Director General of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia said that in line with Indonesia’s Vision 2045, which includes higher levels of formal education, vocational education is now a top priority for the ministry in collaboration with industry so as to produce a workforce with recognised skills that can be readily employable.
Vocational institutes have started to change their orientation from a supply-drive focus to a demand-driven focus so as to ensure that graduates are readily employable through a link- and-match program. “The goal is to make human resources competent in terms of hard skills, soft skills and character. Overall this has been the policy focus of the Directorate General of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture. If we are able to control this, then the Vision of Indonesia 2045 will definitely be realized,” he noted.
As such the ministry is ramping up its vocational training programs.
