The festival of Diwali holds a special significance in Pushtimarg, wherein we experience many different leelas of the lord. One, where he sits in the Hatri to sell wares and food as a cowherd boy. And the other, as he lifts the Govardhan to break Indra's false ego and pride.

As Shri Krishna convinces the elders to perform Govardhan puja, he lays the foundations for Shuddh Pushti, where all Anyashray is left behind, and complete surrender unto Prabhu is achieved.

Annakut, offered by the brajwasis, who brought many samagris and rice from their homes to provide Girirajji, led to the creation of a mountain of food so huge that it hid Shri Govardhan himself! Looking at Prabhu taking the form of Govardhan with a thousand arms partaking in the bhog, Lalitaji exclaims that this is the one who resides in Swaminiji's heart.

“व्यंजन बहुत बनाए कहालो नाम बखानो,
भयो भाँत को कोट ओट गिरिराज छिपानो |
बरा बिराजे भाँत पे चंदा पट तर सोय,
यज्ञ पुरुष भोजन करे सब देवन सुख होय ||”

This depiction in one of the haveli sangeets beautifully explains that as the lord of the universe eats to his heart's content, all the demigods and brajwasis experience complete bliss.

Diwali represents the belief that when you take shelter in Prabhu’s lotus feet, he shall never let you go, even if it means moving mountains.
