Each song is inspired by, and explores our city's many textures and layers of historical narrative -- pieced together through journals, artifacts, traces of everyday life, and other ephemera found within MOV's 60,000+ object collection. This unique collaboration between ALAM and MOV works to harness the energy of the collective and expose new perspectives on the city, our greatest artifact.
Tickets for the evening include admission to the MOV galleries, feature exhibitions, and a post-performance reception with cash bar.
About ALAM:
A Loose Affiliation of Millionaires is a curated collective of Vancouver-based musicians rich in creative capital. We are a small group of friends and colleagues that have come together to pool ideas, resources, and vision towards our common artistic goals.
This is an exciting time for art. All around us self-sourced performers, painters and poets are making their way in the world freer than ever to share their tastes with those who will listen and those who will watch and those who will join in. A Loose Affiliation of Millionaires works to harness the energy of this art to build the kind of momentum that is needed to turn seeds into forests.
To do this, we support each other in the creation of high quality concerts, events and experiences that aim to soften the barriers between art and audience. We share ideas with each other and others about how to navigate the contemporary artistic landscape. We play to each other's strengths. We work with other artists, organizations, communities, and scenes to cross-pollinate our accomplishments, and expose each other to new things.
Most of all, we take pleasure from participating in, creating, and sustaining established and emerging artistic communities.
And we're rich. We're very, very rich.
