Kiran is a practitioner health and community psychologist. She provides therapy to people with Sickle Cell Disease in the NHS and leads In Our Own Words, using knowledge co-production with minoritised ethnic communities to improve access to psychological support. Speaker - Dr Nicki O'Brien
Nicki is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Northumbria University. She is a Chartered Health Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Nicki is co-Lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for the British Psychological Society Division of Health Psychology.
Nicki’s research focuses on developing and evaluating complex interventions that are designed to make a demonstrable contribution to the promotion of individual, population and global health. Her recent work focuses on understanding and developing health and behaviour change interventions and services that are accessible, acceptable and effective for disadvantaged and minoritised populations, with a particular focus on addressing health literacy and health inequalities. Nicki leads the Health Behaviour and Behaviour Change Research group at Northumbria.
