Usually creators can create a weekend workshop then build that out to a full course. Move your community to a platform that you control. Make sure you are capturing emails and creating an email list because these true fans will be your first customers.

PIVOTS ARE RARE...

I am walking away from Hollywood, after working for 16 years as a Hollywood attorney. And it feels so right, in fact, I have never felt so much joy and a deep sense of purpose and belonging. There is no greater honor than protecting my fellow creators. I started my law firm, to support my fellow creators with their brand deals at first, but the real need is in helping big creators build out their businesses and teams, with full-time employees as well as products and courses. Some of these courses are in the 7 or 8 figures.

For those of you who are new, most likely creators, welcome. I am here to tell you that the future is bright and there is so much money to be earned, so do not undercut or underestimate yourself.

You need to think beyond your views and subscriber count.. You need to start thinking of your YT channel as a business and YouTube, as the marketing arm. Reframe how you think about building a business from your channel, you are not selling out…unless you want this to be your hobby. But most of us are trying to leave our soul-sucking corporate 9-5 jobs and create full time.

Creators are the soul of humanity because they show us the beauty in the art of creation for the sake of education and entertainment. They are the brave souls who are saying no to working for 20+ years at a job they hate so that they can live during their 2-weeks of vacation. Imagine a society in the future where people are happy and fulfilled, and do not need to self-numb to cope. Where their values are aligned with the work they do every day, to make the world a better place?

My focus before was chasing views and sub count but I didn’t really know who I was serving and providing value to and that meant I had videos that spread over many niches. Now, I know who I am serving and supporting—creators who are winging it, alone and unprotected. Creators who are doing brand deals on their own, accepting low offer and not putting employment agreements or NDAs in place as they build out their business, teams, products and courses.

With this clarity, I will go forward making videos for those creators who need the support and insight into how to protect themselves and how to grow their businesses. I function as part-time COO where I am business coach and manager in addition to lawyer. I love it!
