Boroline has been the trusted “silent doctor” of Bengali and Indian households for nearly 100 years, treating cuts, burns, swelling and dry skin. Created in 1929 by Gourmohan Dutta under GD Pharmaceuticals, it became not just a cream but a symbol of India’s self-reliance and protest against British economic control. Affordable, Indian and reliable, it earned generations of trust. On Independence Day in 1947, the company even distributed about 1 lakh tubes for free. The name comes from ‘Boro’ (boric powder) and ‘Olin’ (from the Latin word for oil).
