CUNCOLIM INDUSTRIAL ESTATE|BOON OR A CURSE?

Описание: This morning, residents of Cuncolim came together in front of the IDC office from 10 am to 12 noon. After addressing the crowd, they were taken on a live tour of the industry to emphasize the grave problem of the negligent release of effluents into our untouched environment. Nearly 200 residents, including law enforcement officials, participated in the event to maintain order. The devastation caused to the environment, including the direct discharge of effluents into the rivers of Cuncolim and the destruction of fertile fields, left the citizens in a state of shock.

The presence of the Chief Minister, Environment minister, Industry minister, health minister, and top officials from the GSPCB was demanded by the residents for a joint inspection. Along with this, the residents also requested the establishment of a permanent office of the GSPCB with a full-time environment officer and the installation of an AQI with a large display showing real-time air quality.
A full recovery of total fines amounting to ₹7.22 crores from the concerned units must be emphasised.
The citizens have reached a unanimous agreement to continue the movement until a positive outcome is achieved. Furthermore, it was requested that the locals refrain from accepting donations from these polluting industries as it goes against our principles.
