How do you make fufu the Nigerian way? Loi loi is a very popular food in Nigeria. You can also call it Utara or akpu. I decided to revisit the recipe I knew from my childhood. The pounding method!
In Nigeria, fufu is paired with a plate of soup and served as lunch or dinner. I can't imagine anyone having fufu for breakfast. Except, of course, my uncle!
There are different names for this swallow within the Nigerian system.
WHAT IS FUFU
Fufu is a bland-tasting Nigerian dish that is paired with soups and served as lunch or dinner. It is completely different from eba or pounded yams and is only made with fermented peeled cassava.
Other names include loi loi, Akpu, Utara, Santana, etc.
