Several small-scale butchery owners in Western Province have suffered significant losses after their meat products went bad following a two-day electricity blackout that affected eight districts.
The affected districts include Mongu, Nalolo, Kalabo, Sikongo, Luampa, Kaoma and Nkeyema.
In Mongu District, one of the entrepreneurs, Morgan Inambao, reported losing 15 chickens due to the prolonged power outage, which made it impossible to preserve his stock.
Other butchery owners have also expressed frustration, saying meat they had stocked for the weekend went to waste as refrigerators and freezers could not function without electricity.
