I’m part of this Earth
and this Earth’s part of me.

So for a few sun-gold hours each week
I get out of the classroom and I sit by a tree.

A tree.
A slowly unfolding eternity,
a great big canopy of green.

I dig my hands deep in dirt,
I snap a brittle stick in two,
I dig a hole for no good reason,
I breathe deep of the season,
I make friends with a creature,
and the tree is my teacher
for the day
(a treecher, you could say).

I’m part of nature.
And nature’s part of me.
We’re one big happy family.

I get out of the classroom
and I sit by a tree.

I don’t need to do -
I can just be.

It’s good for my head
and good for my heart -

away from lessons
and screens
and timetables

I can start
to find out
what it means
to be me.

Free me.
The real me.
Whoopee!!

And if I’m worried
or anxious
or stressed,

I get out of the classroom,
and I do a little test -

I go and sit beneath my tree
and see
if it doesn’t all feel
just a little bit better.

And it does.

Cos I’m part of this planet
and this planet’s part of me.

I get out of the classroom
and I sit by a tree.

I take care of nature,
and nature
takes care
of me.
