On June 1, 2023, Taipei City was honored with the "Most Promising Muslim-friendly City Destination of The Year (non-OIC)" award in the Halal In Travel Awards 2023 ceremony held at Village Hotel Katong in Singapore. Su-Hui Chen, Commissioner, Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government, accepted the award on behalf of the city of Taipei.
The Halal Travel Awards, which are presented by CrescentRating, are the most prestigious in the Halal travel industry. One of the awards is for the Most Promising Muslim-friendly City Destination of The Year (non-OIC), which is part of the "HalalTrip Travelers Choice Awards" category.
