Haul Out To Replace Zincs - Safe Harbor, Wanchese, NC 12.10.25

Today we hauled Ocean Explorer out of the water and onto the hard to replace our zincs—one of those routine maintenance tasks you have to stay on top of. The lift went smoothly, she settled in beautifully, and we were feeling pretty good… right up until we held the new zincs up to the shafts.

Wrong. Size. 🤦‍♀️

After all the prep, planning, and hauling her out, we discovered we ordered the incorrect zincs. Just another humbling reminder that boat life is full of lessons, surprises, and moments that test your patience (and your sense of humor).

So for now, Ocean Explorer waits patiently while we regroup, reorder, and remind ourselves that every setback is just part of the adventure. Stick around—because if there’s one thing this journey keeps proving, it’s that life aboard is never boring.
