The Truth About Top of the World Arch Trail

Описание: Unlike most hikes in Valley of Fire State Park, the Top of the World Arch Trail is not marked, not obvious, and not forgiving—but it is absolutely worth the effort.

This hidden desert route leads you through deep sand washes, requires careful routefinding, and includes light scrambling across vibrant red sandstone formations. Along the way, the scenery is nonstop: towering rock fins, winding washes, and sweeping desert views that make every step worthwhile.

The sandstone Top of the World Arch itself is massive and impressive, perched high above the surrounding landscape. From the arch, it’s a short but rewarding climb to the summit known as Top of the World, offering one of the best panoramic viewpoints in Valley of Fire.

⚠️ Important note:
This route is often confused with the Natural Arches Trail, which leads to a collapsed arch. If you don’t navigate carefully, you’ll end up in the wrong place. This hike is best suited for experienced hikers comfortable with:

✔️ Deep sand hiking
✔️ Scrambling and uneven terrain
