VentureStar was a single-stage launch vehicle proposed by Lockheed Martin. In 1994, NASA solicited proposals from the aerospace industry for the design and construction of a vehicle capable of reaching Earth orbit using a single stage to replace the Space Shuttle.
The project was canceled in 2001 due to technical problems and high costs.
