Aired February 9, 2026 -- Brett Brooks, founder of Peoria’s Miss Juneteenth Pageant, opened a new category for the pageant system at the beginning of Black History Month.
The pageant will now have a Mrs. category. Last year, the Little Miss and Mister categories were added.
Brooks also shared on WMBD News at 4 a recognition she is receiving for her work in the community.
“I am being honored as one of the influential Black leaders in the State of Illinois by the Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza,” she said. “I’m really honored she chose me this year.”
