reverse engineer app — I built it with AI (real demo + verdict) with 3D animation: test REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) on my own Electron app: one command traced the Copy as Markdown feature from preload to IPC to the clipboard in about 3 seconds, then AI rebuilt it for the web, with what failed and an honest verdict.

❓ What is REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) and how fast is it?
REA (github.com/morluto/rea, npm package rea-agents, MIT license) is an MCP server and CLI that lets a coding agent inspect native binaries, JavaScript/Electron apps, .NET assemblies and websites without their source code, and returns findings with evidence. In my test, rea-agents 6.7.0 analyze-javascript-application read my own 2.7 KB Electron app.asar in about 3.2-3.5 seconds and traced the Copy as Markdown feature: preload contextBridge → ipcRenderer.invoke on notes:copy-markdown → ipcMain.handle in main.js line 14 → clipboard.write. It produced 350 KB of JSON and did not link the renderer's button click to the bridge, so that hop was traced by hand. Only use it on software you own or are authorized to inspect.

🧭 Steps
• Target: my own tiny Electron notes app (Copy as Markdown button), packed with @electron/asar into a 2.7 KB app.asar
• Command: npx rea-agents analyze-javascript-application ./app.asar --json (5 files parsed, ~3.2-3.5 s warm runs)
• Trace found: preload.js exposes notes.copyMarkdown → ipcRenderer.invoke('notes:copy-markdown') → ipcMain.handle (main.js line 14) → clipboard.write
• AI rebuilt the feature for the web with navigator.clipboard.write (text/plain + text/html) — real recording: 35 characters copied
• What failed: 350 KB of JSON for a 2.7 KB app, and the renderer button → window.notes link was not in the graph (traced by hand)
• Verdict 8/10; runs locally; use only on apps you own or may inspect
