Abduction and forced conversion in Pakistan: A short documentary

Описание: In Pakistan alone, every year between 1 thousand and 2 thousand girls - some as old as nine years old - are abducted, forced to convert to Islam and forcefully married to their abductors against their will. Once a girl is abducted and forced to convert to Islam, she is forced to answer to Sharia law and no longer needs parental consent to marry. This is why Christian and Hindu girls are normally targeted. It is extremely difficult to fight in court when the court unrelentingly favours the teachings of Islam.

When birth certificates and other documents proving the girl is underage are entirely overlooked by the justice system, girl victims' families face a seemingly insurmountable roadblock when they try to seek their rescue and safe return. At the behest of the corrupt Pakistani court system, these underaged girls are forced to legally live under the custody of their abductors.
