Did you know electric vehicles still have 12-volt batteries? And did you know the e-Niro’s one is woefully inadequate?
I’ve had problems with my 12-volt battery since I got the e-Niro. At first I thought it was because I had OVMS plugged-in (a little box that gives me information about the car) but it’s failed even without that.
I don’t know whether the problem is the battery itself, the e-Niro’s handling of it or something else, but that’s what I’m going to find out!
I’ll discuss why EVs have 12-volt batteries (it’s actually a good thing), what you can do to help ensure yours doesn’t go flat (Ready Mode and Utility Mode), what the e-Niro does to keep it charged (supposedly) and much more.
It’s a packed video, so get yourself a drink, sit back and shout at the screen when I inevitably say something incorrect.
This is part 1 of the saga by the way. More will follow, I'm sorry to say!
