Alpha v1.0.3[1][2] is a version of Java Edition Alpha, released on 7 July 2010 to add new sounds and to change the behavior of mobs.

*Mobs*
General: Added hostile mob sounds. Prior to this update, they shared the player's hurt sound
*World generation*
Caves: Added ambient sounds.

*Mobs*
General: Pathfinding has been improved on hills. Only exception is for spiders Generally more convincing mob idling behavior. They stand still more often, looking around at their surroundings
Mob: No longer has movement AI, therefore it is unable to walk around. It can, however, still rise in water and look around.
*Gameplay*
Third-person view: The player's body no longer slowly rotates to face forward while in third person view.
*Items*
Tools: Diamond tools durability has been increased from 513 to 1025.
