Defense Against a Rear Naked Choke Hold in a Street Fight

In a street fight, when you are grabbed and choked from behind, you only have a split-second to react. Don't try to grab the attacker or hit him - you don't have good leverage, you can't see him, you will only waste precious time and energy.

Instead, drop your whole weight to the ground and make the opponent stumble over you! This is a very effective self-defense technique: you will have the momentum on your side, and unless your attacker is a very good grappler, he will drop the hold and lose his balance.

So there you have it - the only simple and reliable way to defend yourself from a rear naked choke hold!
