Royal New Kent is Mike Strantz’s boldest tribute to Irish links golf — a rugged, 7,440-yard masterpiece built in 1997 across 282 acres of Virginia farmland. Inspired by Royal County Down and Ballybunion, this inland links features 105 bunkers, tall fescue, stone walls, and massive Champions Bermuda greens.

But like Stonehouse, the 2008 crash and massive upkeep demands led to Royal New Kent’s closure in 2017. For two years it sat abandoned — until Wingfield Golf stepped in. After a $2M restoration, Royal New Kent reopened on April 28, 2019, once again delivering “Golf Ireland in Virginia.”
