New laws that specifically target foreign interference in domestic politics are in the works. CNA also understands that they are likely to be tabled in Parliament in early 2020. The government said Singapore is particularly vulnerable as it is a small state that is highly open and digitally connected. It is concerned about two specific forms of interference -- one is the influencing of people significantly involved in politics, while the other involves hostile information campaigns by foreign actors.
