In this episode, AAMU students give an inside look at our campus, culture, and history that makes Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University one of the top HBCUs in the country! Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University (AAMU) is a historic 1890 land grant institution of higher learning. AAMU was founded in 1875 during the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War by a former slave, Dr. William Hooper Councill. Situated on “The Hill,” only a short distance from downtown Huntsville, the site of the school’s founding, it is the largest HBCU in Alabama providing baccalaureate, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral level degrees. AAMU is nationally recognized for its academic programs, experienced faculty and staff, diverse student body, student organizations and state of the art facilities. This community university provides a personalized experience which provides the avenue for students to “Start Here, Go Anywhere” and know that “Service is Sovereignty.”
