Hello literate Ibara enthusiasts! Most of this is probably covered in the video, but I wanted to have a more digestible break down here, also I'll try to got into more specifics or cover things I missed.
AIR JAB
Ibara's Air Jab can now be used on t e ground. By pressing Jump + Melee (very quickly), you can use this attack on the ground. This should make Ibara's air jab easier to hit. She jumps so high and the jab has such a precise hurtbox and no tracking, making the move pretty unreliable. Air Jab is the only attack Ibara has that lets her move while attacking, so it's good she has a new way to use it.
COMBOS
Keep in mind, Air Jab has a knockdown value of 250(?), so you can only use it twice on a target. That will only do 140 damage. But there are some better options:
Air Jab, Melee x2, Alpha
Air Jab, Melee x2, Gamma
Air Jab, Melee x3
You can't combo Air Jab into beta. It'll only do about 76 damage.
GAMMA
Quirk skill gamma: Crucifixion: "Recover HP and GP based on the damage inflicted."
Verbatim from https://ultrarumble.com/
Ibara's grab grants her a 1:1 ratio of life steal. The damage she does to a target, is exactly how much HP/GP she recovers for herself. It will always fill your HP first then your GP. This is very important because it means it's the opposite of Plus Ultra which refills your GP, but leave you vulnerable to HP attacks or storm damage.
I didn't mention it in the video, but depending on the stage of the game, storm damage may be too much to out heal. That said, if you grab someone in storm, you pretty much guarantee their death and your survival.
Since the life steal is directly taken from the damage you inflict, defense buffs and attack buffs will either increase or decrease your siphon. Keep track of Kirishima's special action, enemies running Sisterly Disposition or Revenge Assault, Assault card buffs, and teams with assault characters on them. (Which will be a lot since Tokoyami is assault and so is the Overhaul Quirk Set).
In that same vein, make sure you know your breakpoints on Ibara's gamma. Her standard damage is 225, but this changes with Iron Fist, Embrittlement, Revenge Strike, Strike Cards, and Strike teammates. More damage = More Lifesteal!
This doesn't come without drawbacks. See, if you down your target with Gamma, you won't get the full lifesteal. For example:
If Deku only has 180 HP, When Ibara grabs him she will deal 15x7 (105) and another 75 on the final hit. You'll steal 180 HP, but the extra 45 is gone. This is because you cannot siphon downed opponents. The game seems to calculate the damage for each tick of damage, then determine if the target is active or downed, if they are active, you will get the HP, if they are down, then you will only get the HP up until the point you downed them. Basically, high damage grab builds might prevent you getting the full lifesteal. If Mirio, or anyone, is using Willpower, you get all of the HP, because you can't kill them yet.
Since the final hit of grab makes up more than half of the damage, missing out on that is not optimal. Luckily, Ibara can end her grab early and cash in on that final hit. This is called grab cancelling. I have a video here: • Grab Cancelling | 1 Hour of Ibara Gameplay
...It goes over every possible reason to grab cancel (or not to!) And now we have a new reason to use cancels. NOTE: This is from season 6, so keep that in mind.
In regards to lifesteal, cancelling can grant you HP in a pinch. At level 9, you can do 150 damage. If you are in a high damage situation, or desperately need HP, this may be the way to go.
Monoma can copy your quirks, but they are 20%(?) weaker, so he can lifesteal you in a 1v1, but it'll be much lower for him. Be careful if AFO or Toga has Ibara's gamma.
Ibara 1v1's might just come down to who lands a grab first. If you do get grabbed... run. She just swing the fight 450 HP in her favor (you lose 225, she gains 225). Or try a counter grab. Also, if their tuning is better than yours, then you will lose by attrition if you keep re-grabbing each other.
OTHER STUFF:
Remember to test your trickshots on the new map. The geometry is very good for it.
12:43 Some of the buildings have breakable windows. If the glass breaks, you won't be able to wall tech to the roof, but you can tech the inside floor.
13:47 Here is a cornershot. I thought it might be helpful to see how I aim them since I can see my opponent through the wall this time. Basically, you aim low, but you need to have your reticle below their feet, respective to your position. Almost like you're trying to hit them directly through the wall.
Youtube said enough yapping. Bye!
