Russian Forces Come To Assad's Rescue As Rebels Seize Army Base, March on Aleppo In Surprise Attack

Описание: Rebels launched a significant offensive against Syrian forces seizing territory for the first time since 2020, according to reports. The fighting resulted in at least 132 casualties, including 65 from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), 18 from allied factions, and 49 Syrian forces, including at least four officers. The operation, led by HTS, overran at least 10 areas in northwestern Aleppo province, advancing nearly 10 km from the outskirts of Aleppo and coming close to Hezbollah strongholds Nubl and Zahra. The newly captured area in western rural Aleppo spans 245 sq km, bringing the rebels within 5 km of Aleppo city. They also attacked Al-Nayrab airport east of Aleppo, where pro-Iranian militias are stationed, and seized Base 46, Syria’s largest government base in Aleppo. The offensive marks the first major assault by rebels since the 2020 ceasefire brokered by Turkey and Russia, with the rebels stating the campaign is a response to recent attacks on civilians by Russian and Syrian forces. Meanwhile, the Syrian army claimed to have inflicted heavy losses on the rebels but did not report its own casualties. In a separate development, the IDF destroyed Hezbollah's largest missile production facility in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley on Nov. 27. The site, located near the Syrian border, was a key point for smuggling weapons and operatives between Syria and Lebanon.
