This video explores the electrodynamics of moving bodies, a subject studied by Albert Einstein in his 1905 paper titled "Zur Elektrodynamik bewegter Körper" (On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies), published in the journal Annalen der Physik.
In that paper, Einstein applied the mathematical tools developed by Voigt and Lorentz to address electromagnetic problems involving bodies in motion (moving observer, moving reflector, etc.).
In this presentation, we offer a novel approach by using only Maxwell's equations to resolve electromagnetic problems involving moving bodies, without using Lorentz transformation (Voigt-Lorentz auxiliary variables). The FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) method is applied to numerically solve these problems, providing a modern and efficient way to analyze electrodynamics in moving systems.
This seminar was organized by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society France in May 2023.
