Описание: The 55th GST Council meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is discussing several significant proposals. Among them are the introduction of a 5% GST on salted/spiced popcorn, 12% on pre-packaged popcorn, and 18% on caramel popcorn. The council also proposes an increase in GST for used electric vehicles (EVs) and smaller petrol/diesel cars from 12% to 18%. The decision on exempting GST for health insurance premiums up to ₹5 lakh has been deferred for further discussions. Additionally, discussions are underway to bring aviation turbine fuel (ATF) under the GST ambit. There are expected GST cuts on bottled water and notebooks, and a potential increase in the GST for sin goods, including cigarettes, tobacco products, and aerated beverages, from 28% to 35%.
