Die Vision der Augmented Reality beschreibt eine Welt, in der die reale und virtuelle Umgebung, die sich ursprünglich konträr gegenüberstehen, in einem Virtualitätskontinuum ineinander übergehen und miteinander verschmelzen. Diese neue Realität ist die erweiterte Realität, auch Augmented Reality (AR) genannt.

Das Videmus-Projekt ermöglicht es, die erweiterte Realität mit Hilfe eines Android-Smartphones zu erforschen. Virtuelle Inhalte können nahtlos in ein Kamerabild der momentanen Umgebung eingeblendet und durch den Betrachter direkt manipuliert werden. Nutzer können eigene digitale Inhalte in der realen Welt platzieren und mit anderen Nutzern teilen. Stellen Sie sich eine Welt vor, in der Informationen nicht mehr über Themen oder Suchbegriffe auffindbar sind, sondern direkt mit realen Objekten und Orten assoziiert werden. Videmus ist ein Fenster in diese Welt!

Videmus wurde im Rahmen des Anwendungsfach Ubiquitous Computing 2009/10 am Institut für Medieninformatik an der Universität Ulm entwickelt.


The idea of Augmented Reality envisions a world where the physical real-world environment and the virtual reality become indistinguishable from each other. Information about the surrounding real world is augmented by virtual information, thus creating a mixed reality. This mediated reality is commonly referred to as Augmented Reality (AR).

The Videmus project allows browsing through the Augmented Reality by using an Android-capable mobile device. Virtual objects are displayed on your device's display and are seamlessly integrated into a live picture of your environment. Furthermore, these virtual objects can be directly manipulated by users and shared with others as Videmus allows to insert your own content into the Augmented Reality. Imagine a world where a piece of information is no longer associated with an abstract keyword but connected with a place in the real world. Videmus opens a window to this world!

Videmus was developed within the elective course Ubiquitous Computing 2009/10 at the Institute of Media Informatics at Ulm University.
