We take a POV ride on 4x (out of 6) O&K Escalators at John Lewis in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The escalators were built in late 1994 in the Keighley, England 🏴 factory and the store opened in October 1995. The escalators are the type RTV-G and RTV-G/GL (some have an extended balustrade). They also make some great sounds 👂!!
Unfortunately 2 were out of use. One was in the middle of a service and clean, and the other was switched off to save power (they already have an up and a down running between that floor). It’s great that they installed 6 escalators instead of just 4, however if it was my design, I would have made it 3 escalators per floor - rather than 2 from B-G and 4 from G-1, so that there’s always a spare one…
