Before a transaction is executed, it is first sent to the mempool, the waiting room for pending transactions. There are three main ways bots can attack these transactions: displacement, insertion, and suppression. More broadly, maximal extractable value (MEV) refers to the maximum value that can be extracted by controlling the order of transactions within a block.
