Headlines: Demonetisation will not curb black money, RBI warned Government before its impact

The Reserve Bank of India board had warned about the short-term negative effect of demonetization on growth and had noted that it would have no material impact on the campaign against black money. The central bank had listed four objections to the overnight notes ban announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before agreeing to it ""in larger public interest"", an RTI reply has revealed.
2. Minister of Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to conduct a safety assessment of all Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft operated in India. The direction came a day after a Boeing 737 Max 8 plane operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed soon after taking off.
3. Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticised some Opposition leaders for stirring up a controversy over conducting elections during the month of Ramzan. He claimed that there were many “sponsored comments” that elections will be affected. The BJP leader had also mentioned west bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
4. Kerala chief election commissioner warned all political parties in the state against using the Sabrimala temple in the election campaigning. The commissioner further added ""Citing or invoking or doing some sort of religious propaganda based on the Sabarimala issue or judgement will be a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct and we will be taking action""
5. NCP chief Sharad Pawar announced that he will not contest in the upcoming lok sabha election. Several reports over the past month had said Pawar will contest from Madha constituency in Maharashtra. He further added since that already two members of his family are contesting polls this time and hence he felt that he should not contest since he had already contested 14 times in the past.
