Hi my name is Dr. David Eshom and I'm a cosmetic dentist in San Diego. Some dentist call themselves a “cosmetic dentist” so speak after taking little training, no experience and maybe taking a few weekend courses. People that come into that type of office expect to have their teeth look natural in the indistinguishable from their other natural teeth and when they do have the treatment they end up being very disappointed and actually angry to see that their teeth do not look like natural teeth. So there a lot of “fake” Cosmetic Dentists out there and I want to tell you today what it takes to be a cosmetic dentist. It takes training. It takes experience and in my case I have a credential in cosmetic dentistry from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD.com.)
Let me tell you a little story about Patty. Patty came into my office with these teeth right after visiting so-called” cosmetic dentist” in the area. Her Upper Front Teeth were done with all porcelain crowns. It was supposed to look like your natural teeth. She had given the dentist 3 times to try to fix the color and try to make it right. These dentists are trying to do a good job. They just don’t understand what they don’t know. There are details that need to be incorporated into the planning and execution to get the teeth to look natural. To get it right, there needs to be the right translucency, the right shape, size, and reflection. All that comes into effect when you are truly a cosmetic dentist. You can perform these type of cases. Here she is before and after again. Patty left the office very very happy with nice white teeth that look natural and I think that's what everybody wants. They want their teeth to be as white as possible but still look natural and you have to put these little intricacies in their teeth to make that happen.
