Here’s how this clip was made:

After the initial storyboarding, the workflow involved Midjourney as a generative AI tool for the source images, which were then extensively processed: Topaz for upscaling, Photoshop for editing, Camera Raw for colour uniformity adjustments, and Lightroom for organizing and rendering. The soundscape is a Mubert remix edited with Audacity (Mubert is the copyright holder). Not being a native English speaker, I use Grammarly to tidy up my texts. I had some limited input from ChatGPT Plus.

As to the ethics of generative AI and its impact on the artist community: the issue has now been brought before the courts, who will decide. As the artist community has some very valid points, I follow the rules as laid out by Adobe Stock: disclose the use of generative AI, do not prompt for contemporary artists, do not infringe on copyrights or portrait rights. Furthermore, I consider my work entertainment rather than art, and myself a scenarist/programmer rather than an artist.

As to the quality of AI-generated images: personally, I am fascinated by the bizarre quirkiness of these bots, and most of the time, I do not edit out the weird stuff (but sometimes I do, not sure how and why I decide either way). If you are put off by warped hands, blotchy faces and strange perspectives, then alas, you won’t find my videos very palatable. And that’s OK… but if you do enjoy my work, please like and subscribe.
