This hike is between two peaks - Pico do Areeiro (at 1818 mts ) to Pico Huivo (1862 mts ). The trail goes through some of the most stunning mountain scenery. It can be rated as a moderate level hike.
Pico do Areeiro is about 35 minutes drive from Funchal, the capital city of Madeira. It is a bit difficult to reach here by public transport. There are tour companies that arrange for pick up and drop from your accommodation in Funchal, although the hike is self-guided.
