Step 1: Disconnect negative battery cable with a 10mm socket. Keep the trunk lid open, and pull down one of the rear seats in case the trunk does close.
Step 2: Remove the airbag by inserting a medium flat head screwdriver horizontally into the access hold behind the wheel to pop it free from the spring clip. Repeat for the other side.
Step 3: Once the airbag is loose, remove the yellow connector attached to the steering wheel.
Step 4: Locate the wiring harness for the paddle shifters and remove it from the steering hub in order to remove the steering wheel.
Step 5: Use a 16mm socket to remove the bolt that holds the wheel to the steering column. Once removed, you can wiggle the wheel free.
Step 6: The center trim is held on by 3 T20 torx bits. Two are located on the front of the wheel near the top of the trim, the third in the 6 o'clock postion on the backside of the wheel. Remove all three to take the trim off.
Step 7: To remove the paddle shifters, there is a T20 torx bolt holding each paddle onto the wheel. Once off the wheel, you will need to disassemble the mechanism to change the paddles out.
Step 8: The paddle is held in with a T8 torx bolt, remove this and pull the backing plate off the paddle. The carrier that holds the paddle will need to be removed and installed on the new shifters. Using a small screwdriver release the tabs to slide the carrier off.
Step 9: Slide the carrier onto the new paddle shifter and screw the backing plate
Step 10: Bolt the paddle shifter back to the steering wheel with the T20 Torx screw from the front of the wheel and repeat this process with the other shifter.
Step 11: Put the new steering wheel trim on the wheel using the three T20 torx you removed earlier.
Step 12: Re-install the wheel onto the steering column and torque the 16mm bolt to 46 ft lbs. Re-connect the shifter paddle wiring harness. Conntect the airbag electrical connector and clip the airbag back into place.
Step 13:
Re-connect the negative battery cable
