Aghanjar Mahadev (अघंजर महादेव) Temple is a beautiful temple near to Dharmasala, which is located at Khanyara village. Surrounded by mountains and forests, the place attracts a lot of tourists too apart from the pilgrims. The Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that once upon a time when Arjuna, one of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, was on his way to the Kailash Mountains, Lord Shiva appeared at this spot and blessed him with the boon of victory over the Kauravas. There are several idols of Lord Shiva and a Lord Hanuman statue. Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is about 9 km from ISBT Dharamshala at the foothills of Dhauladhar. The construction of this Shiva Temple is very unique and goes well with the illustrious scenic beauty of the place. There is a small waterfall also behind the temple with water flowing continuously around the temple. This temple is estimated to be about 500 years old. The cool breeze, peace, and serenity around the temple give a heavenly ambience to the devotees here. Another major attraction near to the temple is the Norbulingka Monastery at Sidhpur. Aghanjar Mahadev & Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple distance from Kangra is 19 km, from Chandigarh is 243 km, from Pathankot is 93 km, from Hoshiarpur is 119 km and from Mandir is 127 km.
