T-Maxx (2020 re-make song from Tetris Max and Bricklayer) (PRWmusic)

Описание: “T-Maxx” is back!!! Re-recorded in 2020, your favorite soundtrack from Tetris Max (Mac) and Bricklayer (Windows). I had as much fun making this as I did writing the original.

HISTORY:
I originally wrote parts of this song some time around 1986 or 1987 on a Roland Juno 60. I had a crappy, drums-less 4-track recording of it, and the song had no name. I thought that was the end of that song.

Then in either late 1992 or early 1993, I downloaded a new shareware Tetris clone on my Mac, called Tetris Max, programmed by Steve Chamberlin. This game had me hooked, but I found it odd that the game has music samples from a band called Jesus Jones (one of my favorite bands at the time). I reached out to Steve and offered to send some songs on a cassette and if he wanted, he could feel free to use any of it in his game. I wasn’t looking to make any money, I just wanted people to hear my music. My only request was that if Steve used one of my songs, that I get a name and email address credit in the game.

He agreed to listen to some songs — some I already had recorded, but I also re-recorded that original, unnamed song on the newer equipment I had at the time (Roland D-70, Roland D-10, Roland R8M, Yamaha TX16W and a Mac running Performer software). I mailed a cassette to Steve, and he happened to choose that song among the four or five that I included. At that point, I named the song “T-Maxx”.

The game enjoyed some success, and I was surprised to get several hundred emails over the years from people telling me that they liked the song. It warms my heart when every once in a while someone new reaches out to me at that old email address to tell me how they remember the song, or loaded up the game in an emulator and heard it for the first time. Some people have even done remixes and their own versions of the song, including a very excellent dubstep version.

Hard to believe, I originally wrote this song over thirty years ago. I hope you all still enjoy it, and I hope you like this new version. Maybe I’ll re-record it again in another thirty years!


ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
The very beginning and end of the video contain gameplay from that old Tetris Max game. The rest of the video contains gameplay footage from Tetris Effect, a most excellent modern versions of the game for PC and PS4 — I highly recommend it, especially played using PSVR (it’s mind-blowing).
