They also reveal their extensive research process in a visit to the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection, and break down how scanning locations with the iPhone app Polycam—then building a full pre-visualization in Blender—helped shape the film’s precise, sophisticated visual language. We also hear from the film’s producers Valentina Merli, Violeta Kreimer, and Carol Cohen.

Costume designer Rezvan Farsijani discusses the conception of the iconic black-and-white dress, and cinematographer. Alexandra de Saint Blanquat reflects on the challenges of shooting inside a department store in the middle of the night.

Synopsis:
In a society where kissing is punishable by death, and people pay for things by receiving slaps to the face. Angine, an unhappy woman, shops compulsively in a department store. There, she becomes fascinated by a playful salesgirl. Despite the prohibition of kissing, the two become close, raising the suspicions of a jealous colleague.

Featuring Zar Amir (HOLY SPIDER), Luàna Bajrami (PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE), Aurélie Boquien and the voice of Vicky Krieps (PHANTOM THREAD).

'TWO PEOPLE EXCHANGING SALIVA' premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in “Great Expectations,” a program curated by Barry Jenkins. It has won numerous prizes, including the Grand Jury Prize at AFI Fest, Best Drama Short at Out on Film LGBTQ+ Film Festival, and the Audience Award at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

It is shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards® and the 2026 César Awards in the Live Action Short Film category.
