Ayyappan mudi, the serene temple at the hill top, the royal route of Kochi – Dhanushkodi passes through this place. This serene temple is situated at the at the hill top of Ayyappan mudi. It is a solace to thousands of worshippers in and around Chembikkodu and the near vicinity. The legend says, the rice ball for Lord Ayyappa is transformed into a rock and is still fascinating to see it stays in absolute balance at the hill top. Ayyappan mudi(Mount Ayyappa) is situated in Ernakulam dist. 8 Km from Kothamangalam en-route to Thattekkad. Ayyappan mudi is a rocky hillock which got its name from the Lord Ayappa temple that is situated at the top. The lone temple and the beautiful scenery on top gives a calming effect after the trek. The temple on Ayyappan mudi is open to devotees only on the first of every month.
#Bhoothathankettu is a dam and tourist spot in Kerala, India. It is situated outside the village of Pindimana, about 10 km away from the town of Kothamangalam and 50 km away from the main city of Kochi. The original natural dam has been supplemented by a modern dam impounding the Bhoothathan kettu Reservoir (Thattekad Reservoir). During the Malayatoor pilgrim season, travelers use the roads through the forest.
Valara is located in between the two towns #Neriamangalam the east side border of Ernakulam District and Adimali of Kochi - Dhanushkodi National Highway (NH-49). It is in Idukki district, Kerala, at a distance of 84 km from Kochi. The main attraction of this place is Valara waterfalls. Which is in the Deviyar river, a small river originating from Western Ghats, passing through Adimali Grama Panchayath. It is considered as one of the major waterfalls in Kerala state
Inchathotty Suspension Bridge or Hanging Bridge. Inchathotty is a village on the banks of the Periyar River adjoining the bird sanctuary. Here lies the longest suspension bridge of Kerala. The bridge has a length of 181 meters and width of 1.2 meters. The bridge serves as a pedestrian only bridge for the villagers of Inchathotty. The bridge is a tourist spot with great scenery, often visited by people from other parts of Kerala. Boating on a traditional fishing canoe is possible at the bridge site.
#Thattekkad Bird sanctuary is located about 12 km from Kothamangalam, Kerala state, India. The Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary has a rich and varied birdlife. Several species of birds, both forest birds as well as the water birds, visit the sanctuaries, and the important ones include the Indian pitta, which visits the sanctuary during winter and spends almost six months here.
